WebShare is an idea I had when the web was young and everyone was trying to figure out how to get paid for their content. Setting up a WebShare icon on your pages and asking for small donations to support your website borrows from the ShareWare idea. You distribute your work freely and use the honor system. If people like and use the information then they will pay you for it. Stephen King popularized the idea last year when he offered installments of his book, The Plant, online to his fans for a dollar-a-download. The venture was a success, despite the fact that he dropped the project to complete prior commitments. I hope the WebShare concept will catch on!
